Liaison consists of three pairs of interactive houses for two people sentimentally connected, which provides a domestic intimacy in very gentle ways.
We developed three versions: paper, ceramic and plexiglass, each one with its own character and behaviour.
The ceramic house is divided into two floors. It is possible to put a nightlight into the top. This gesture is shown in the second house: the grand floor will light up. The same gesture can be returned. By turning off the nightlight the LED is turned off in the other house.
I designed Liaison with Erika Rossi, and Kui Wang during the universitary “Interaction Design Laboratory 2” run by Gillian Crampton Smith and Philip Tabor, Venice University IUAV, 2008/09.
